Been a while since last post but that does not means things have not been happening. On the wood working side I have recently been hijacked by my partner to make things for her spinning and winding on bobbins. God I’m so diversified:-)
It was also high time to clean the workshop from odd bits of wood, old paints and general mess. Need to say that is still on going, but there is a real sense of achievement when the space looks clean.
So things have been happening in the studio: just upgraded to Ableton 11 live and this upgrade has some great new feature like adding ‘Take lanes’ on each stems to do multiple layered recording, then you can choose the best one. Also new and improved LFO Low-frequency oscillation (LFO) which is an electronic frequency, usually below 20 Hz and creates a rhythmic pulse or sweep. This pulse or sweep is used to modulate musical equipment such as synthesizers to create audio effects such as vibrato, tremolo and phasing. I have added a quick video below on ‘take lanes’ for those starting out or interested music production.
I have also invested in some instrument packs from Ableton such as String quartet and brass ensemble. Both are brilliant and the Midi capabilities give fuel to some great ideas and sounds. You can hear a taster of these in the video on my Instagram page Please note this video is a first off attempt 🙂 Fun but still learning.
Have also recently bought in Filamora video software which is so much easier to produce videos with than my old NCH video pad software. Filamora allows some straight forward production to take place and some final audio capabilities before publishing, though if honest their customer service is not great. Trying to perfect the green screen stuff too. If anyone has thoughts, comments or would like to ask a question on this, it would be great to hear from you.
Finally other news: Now have Guitar pro 7.5 for practising and learning some standard songs and for the first time I purchased the software Band in a Box . I was always a bit dubious to this software but I think it is brilliant for practising guitar and a good help in the creative side of song writing. Will be spending more time in the studio as guitar orders have suffered during lockdown here in Scotland.
